Features.
VFX Nexus has been used in production for years to make more than 20 feature films and aid in countless television and commercial productions.
Dashboard
All users are presented with a dashboard upon login which clearly shows their assigned workload. This can be set to a view tailored for different types of work.
VFX artists will see their shot list; modelers may prefer a task list. Administrators and supervisors can chose to start from a Projects Summary page, which is an overview of the progress over all active projects.
Project Customization
Administrators have total control over which users have access to a project.
Quickly reference a project's shots by sequence, artist, compositor, or studio.
One-click access to report generation.
Reports
By creating reports suitable for print or email, information can be easily summarized and shared with others.
The storyboard report is great for posting in a visible area for everyone's reference.
The shot reports can be used as a handout to artists. Any report is ideal for reference during discussions or meetings.
User Permissions
Create any number of user types. Permissions can be set to allow or restrict access to various features of VFX Nexus.
Acesses can also be granted per user and per project in order to keep prying eyes out of specific projects due to client or company needs.
User setup takes very little time, and can always be adjusted later. Users can also be changed to a different user type at any time.
Shot Management
Shots are at the heart of every project. VFX Nexus tracks all relevant information and status for each shot.
Different organizations use specific terminology to determine shot status and versions. Admins can customize these terms, as well as determine how they affect the count of the remaining shots.
User Permissions apply to all shot information. Only authorized users can set the status of a shot — no sneaking anything under the nose of a supervisor.
The primary feature is the running message log. This runs like a mini-blog for each shot, allowing artists and supervisors to list requests, notes, images, comments, and changes as the shot progresses.
Task Tracking
VFX Nexus is focused on the progress of shots. However, there are many components required to finish those shots. These are classified as Tasks.
Model creation, mocap filtering, rotoscoping, data I/O, digitizing footage, or preparing a dailies session can be assigned and scheduled through Tasks.
Tasks are tracked and receive feedback like shots. For more flexibility, a Task may or may not be associated with any particular shot.
Knowledge Base
At last, a place to keep all your project text, reference, documentation, policies, procedures, or even the favorite lunch spots of the crew.
The Knowledge Base is designed to help keep all workers informed of best practices while performing their work.
With the Knowledge Base feature, a "persistence of information" is maintained. Having one point of reference may keep artists from reinventing the wheel or having to shuffle through the network in search of a document.
Calendar Integration
Production is very time sensitive—every artist, supervisor, and producer knows this.
The Calendar creates an at-a-glance view of all projects, tasks, and shots on their due date. A click on an entry within a date reveals the details page for that item.
Hosted Benefits
Aside from its streamlined approach, the greatest strength of VFX Nexus is its access-anywhere capability.
With VFX Nexus, your studio can track shots within one office, or multiple studios can collaborate worldwide to work on your projects.
Remote studios and freelancers can all reference and update the same data and notes wherever they have access to the internet.
The application requires no maintenance on the part of our customers and any update or upgrade is automatically and seamlessly integrated into each instance of VFX Nexus.
Security and Support
All VFX Nexus customers have their own subdomain on servers controlled and backed up by VFX Nexus.
Your distinct site will be accessed by a browser with a URL that looks similar to this https://mystudio.vfxnexus.com.
Data cannot be "sniffed" by others as it travels over the Internet, as it is protected by an https:// transport, which requires the end user's browser and our servers to encrypt all data as it is transmitted over the Internet.
Each user has a unique username, usually a company email address, as assigned by your VFX Nexus admin. The accounts are also protected by a password.
In addition to phone and email support, VFX Nexus contains inline help documentation to guide you through any questions quickly and smartly.
